Cape Town's February Fiesta: A vibrant calendar of sports, arts, entertainment and business events

02 February 2024

Cape Town continues to take advantage of the beautiful summer weather with yet another bustling events calendar during the month of love.  The City of Cape Town is providing support to at least 21 events taking place in the Mother City this February.

South Africa's biggest social sport and lifestyle event, the Cape Town 10s, kicks off an exciting month of events on Friday, 2 February 2024.

The two-day festival features six sporting codes including rugby, netball, dodgeball, padel, water polo and a 5km charity run on Saturday morning.

When all the games are done, participants will wind down with the help of 15 live music acts across three different stages, including Jack Parow, Spoegwolf, Fokofpolisiekar and DJ PH.

Also taking place this weekend is the KKKA Kaapse Klopse Competitions, taking place at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday, 3 February.

Tickets for the event are available here

On the same day, local cricket franchise MI Cape Town will be hoping to boost its chances of getting into the Betway SA20 league playoffs when they take on the Pretoria Capitals at Newlands, at 13:30.

The match is almost sold out but you can still get tickets to that game here

Tickets for the SA20 league playoffs are also selling fast.

On Sunday 4 February, City Hall will host the annual SA United Xmas Band Competition.

'Cape Town's events calendar is picking up where it left off in January with yet another bumper month. Collectively, event organisers are expecting a turnout of well over 100 000 and possibly more, at their events this month. This is of course fantastic for Cape Town as it feeds into the local economy, with many of the people flying down for these events spending money on local businesses, plus an opportunity to promote our city as a premier events and tourism destination,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith.

Other events in the pipeline this February are:

  • 5 – 11 February - Bain's Cape Town Open
  • 5 – 8 February - Mining Indaba
  • 7 -9 February - Solar Power Africa
  • 10 February - Betway SA20 Final
